Several types of electric discharge may occur in a supercell or thunderstorm forming in stormy weather. One of these is streak lightning. If it occurs from cloud to ground, it is called a lightning stroke. When the lightning occurs between two clouds, horizontal strokes are generated. Another type is intra-cloud or sheet lightning, when we cannot see the actual discharge path, only a diffuse brightness. The third type is positive lightning. This is often observable at the end of a thunderstorm, higher up in a single rain cloud.
